Disadvantages of Plastic Surgery

The success of plastic surgery is quite objective.   However, not every surgery is successful. Some patients have suffered serious harm after the plastic surgery they have undergone failed.  Some have lost their good appearances, and others have even lost their lives. Unsatisfactory results can be disheartening or devastating for patients, or end up disfigured or even dead.

Price can be determined the quality. For example, the cost of breast is approximately NZ$3900 to NZ$5800.
Hence, some people are in the business solely in order to profiteer. Low costs can attract more people to visit so some companies cut corners. For example, in March 2010 Poly Implant Prothese (PIP) Company shut down as it was discovered   that they were using a non-medical homemade silicone gel concoction to cut costs. There were more than 70,000 female victims. The French government suggests women should remove their PIP implants, as they believe the implants can damage the body.

TaraSmith, since becoming aware of the PIP issues, has begun a Facebook group that has over 700 members who also had unsuccessful experiences with plastic surgery. Those people share theirs stories and try to warn people against deciding rashly to have plastic surgery.

Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) announced that people with implants should get checkups regularly throughout their lifetime and undergo further operations if problems are found.  Despite this, the number of people inclined to have plastic surgery is on the rise. Even though people are aware of the risks and dangers of plastic surgery, more and more people are still considering having the procedures.

A number of stars have come out against plastic surgery.  Salma Hayek claims "As a woman, you should be more at ease with your sexuality when you are in your 40s. You are more self-assured about that part. And that`s the way it should be".  Thirty-one year old Jennifer Love Hewitt advises girls to love the way they look.

Professionals have also expressed concerns over cosmetic surgery.  Dr. Andrew Winkler, a plastic surgeon at the University of Colorado in Denver, conducted a study. The study shows that the common nose job may have a high infection rate.

In addition, when you have the plastic surgery, you can never go back. Plastic surgery is like a drug- it can't be stopped or even regulated. Women are always trying and spending money to achieve beauty through it.    In an article, Dr. Anthony Youn admits that plastic surgery has become the “Wild West” of medicine; there has been a rise in the number of doctors performing invasive procedures without appropriate training.
